A MASSO Upgrade Path for Your Onefinity CNC
Bring your Onefinity into the PwnCNC ecosystem with a MASSO G3 Touch controller, replacement wiring, a PwnCNC power box, and optical homing switches with mounts.
Whether you want to move from BlackBox or Redline to MASSO, replace a damaged controller on an Elite-MASSO machine, or renew your machine's control wiring, this kit gives you a practical path forward while retaining your Onefinity's mechanical platform.
Based on our Conversion Kit Core hardware, this Onefinity package emphasizes straightforward wiring and accessible shield-drain leads that make the grounding connections easier to identify and complete. Choose a kit without motors to retain compatible factory closed-loop steppers, or add our 2Nm closed-loop motor package.
Choose Your Motor Package
| Your existing controller | Motor package to choose |
|---|---|
| First-generation BlackBox / Buildbotics-based controller | 2Nm closed-loop motors required. The original open-loop motors must be replaced for this kit. |
| First-generation Elite with MASSO | No motors to retain compatible factory closed-loop steppers, or choose the 2Nm replacement package. |
| First-generation machine with Redline | No motors for machines equipped with compatible factory closed-loop steppers, or choose the 2Nm replacement package. |
| Second-generation machine with Redline | No motors is intended for retaining compatible factory closed-loop steppers, subject to the compatibility notes below. A 2Nm replacement package is also available. |
The 2Nm package includes motors for X, Y, and B, plus a Z-axis motor with an electric brake. Replacement motors use 8mm shafts compatible with the stock Onefinity motor couplers. No-motor packages do not add a replacement Z-axis brake motor.
Currently available motor choices: no motors or 2Nm closed-loop motors.
Core Firmware Included — Advanced Available for $400
MASSO Core firmware is included. Select Advanced firmware for an additional $400 when ordering, or purchase the firmware upgrade after installation. The firmware upgrade adds exactly $400 to either motor configuration, with no additional upgrade surcharge.
The Advanced selection upgrades the MASSO firmware on this same kit; the kit's hardware and wiring remain the same.
What's Included
- PwnCNC-branded MASSO G3 Touch controller with your selected firmware
- PwnCNC power box with 36V power supply and 110V or 220V AC input support
- Replacement shielded stepper wiring with accessible shield-drain leads
- Four optical homing switches and the mounts needed for this Onefinity package
- 2Nm closed-loop motor package, including a Z-axis brake motor, when selected
This is a control-electronics conversion. Remove the original machine control electronics and wiring, then install the PwnCNC wiring, power box, controller, and optical switches. Retain compatible factory closed-loop motors when choosing the no-motor package; install the supplied replacement motors when choosing the 2Nm package.
Optical Switches and Grounding
Use the optical switches supplied with this kit. Stock Onefinity switches are wired differently and are incompatible with this kit's wiring scheme. Our optical switches have the same physical dimensions and should fit existing switch mounting arrangements where applicable; dedicated mounts are also included.
Accessible shield-drain leads simplify making the required grounding connections. Follow the conversion-kit documentation to complete grounding and shielding correctly.
Onefinity Compatibility and Verification
This kit targets first- and second-generation Onefinity machines. Our supplied parts have been tested on our own first-generation Elite-Redline Woodworker. That parts testing does not mean every complete machine configuration has been validated.
Second-generation compatibility is expected based on the motor and mechanical interfaces; every generation, size, Z-carriage, accessory combination, and customer modification has not been tested. As additional conversions are completed, we will use what is learned to refine the kit and documentation. Some configurations may require additional adaptation.
If your machine has nonstandard motors, modified wiring, or an uncertain configuration, request a free CNC Upgrade Compatibility Review before ordering.
Spindles, Probes, and Other Accessories
The kit uses PwnCNC ecosystem connections for spindle control, tool setters, probes, and external emergency stops. Adapters for stock Onefinity probes and other proprietary accessory connectors are not currently included or offered. Plan accessory connections around compatible PwnCNC products and the published wiring documentation.
- Redline spindle: Compatibility has not yet been verified. Do not assume a Redline spindle will connect to or operate with this kit.
- RapidChange ATC: MASSO supports the RapidChange ATC device. Existing owners will still need to complete the appropriate installation and controller configuration.
- Future PwnCNC upgrades: This conversion establishes a MASSO control platform for a future PwnCNC ATC system. Pairing it with the PwnZ Z-carriage can form part of that upgrade plan; the carriage, spindle, tool changer, and required accessories are separate purchases.
MASSO compatibility with RapidChange does not establish compatibility with a Onefinity/Redline tool changer. Stock Onefinity/Redline accessories should not be assumed compatible unless specifically confirmed.
What's Sold Separately
- Spindle or router system and any required control cable
- XYZ probe, tool setter, and external emergency stop accessories
- PwnZ Z-carriage and spindle mounts
- Automatic tool-changing equipment and rotary-axis equipment
- Any additional adaptations needed for unverified or modified machine configurations
Installation: Plan a Weekend
Allow a weekend to work slowly and methodically through the conversion. Actual time depends on your experience, machine configuration, and accessories. This is a customer-installed conversion requiring mechanical installation, wiring, grounding, homing setup, and controller configuration.
Follow our Conversion Kit Knowledge Base for the conversion and installation steps. These instructions currently cover multiple CNC platforms and are generically worded; apply them alongside the Onefinity-specific component details above. A Onefinity installation video is planned.
A ferrule crimping tool is strongly recommended when trimming or modifying wiring. Read What to Know Before Converting Your CNC Machine before starting.
Required After Installation: Stepper Calibration
Run the MASSO stepper calibration wizard after installation to ensure the X, Y, and Z axes are properly calibrated. This is required whether you retain the original closed-loop motors or install our 2Nm package. Complete the documented setup, homing, and motion checks before beginning a cutting job.
Production Time
These kits are made to order. Allow approximately one to three weeks before shipment. We often ship sooner, but production time varies with configuration and component availability.
Support and Warranty
PwnCNC provides published installation documentation and product-specific support for the components supplied with this kit. Hands-on installation, custom fabrication, and integration of unverified third-party accessories are not included.
Review the original machine manufacturer's warranty terms before modifying its electronics. Coverage for components supplied by PwnCNC is governed by the PwnCNC Limited Warranty.
