ZYLtech PLA Wood+ Filament

ZYLtech PLA Wood+ filament is a specialty wood-filled PLA designed to create 3D prints with a natural, wood-like look and feel. Made in the USA and available in five different colors, PLA Wood+ contains 20% wood fiber by weight, giving printed parts a more realistic texture and appearance than lower wood-content filaments.

The higher wood content and lighter base color make this filament a great choice for projects that can be stained, dyed, sanded, or finished after printing. It’s ideal for signs, decorative pieces, architectural models, terrain, props, ornaments, gifts, game pieces, display items, and projects where you want a more organic, handcrafted appearance.

Because PLA Wood+ is PLA-based, it still offers approachable printability, while the wood fiber adds a unique finish that standard PLA cannot match.

Printing Tips

Because PLA Wood+ contains a high percentage of real wood fibers, a larger nozzle is strongly recommended. A 0.4mm nozzle is the minimum size, but 0.6mm or 0.8mm nozzles are preferred to help the fibers pass through smoothly and reduce the risk of clogs.

Wood fibers are hydrophilic, meaning they can absorb moisture from the air. Drying the filament before printing is highly recommended for best results. Wet wood-filled filament may cause popping, stringing, rough surface finish, inconsistent extrusion, or weaker layer bonding.

For a more realistic wood effect, finished prints can be lightly sanded and stained with wood dye or traditional wood stain. You can also experiment with nozzle temperature to slightly vary the tone and surface finish of the printed part.
